Belonging to a family is one bond almost everyone in the world shares. Тут рассказать про свою семью. In my opinion my family is an average Russian family. Families are an important part of life in the whole world and in Russia as well. Russian people try their best to make their families successful. Today, however, families in our country face a lot of pressures. The biggest problem is that in many families both parents work outside the home. There are two main reasons why mothers and wives work. One reason is that women have more opportunities today than for example 50 years ago. The other reasons that women must earn money to support their families. Certainly, when both parents work, they have less time to spend with their children and with each other. Many children in these families are cared for in kindergartens or by babysitters. The rest are cared for by a relative, such as a grandparent. Another big problem is the increase in the member of families that are headed by only one person, usually the mother. More than a half of women, who support their children without a help of man, work. They often have financial difficulties. Some of these difficulties are relieved by government programmes providing help to low-income families, but still poverty affects the way in which the children in these families grow up. Many marriages in Russia end in divorce. It is one of the most stressful events in the life of grown-ups and children. Nevertheless, most people think that living with one parent is better for children than living with two parents who are unhappy with one another and fight most of the time. One more problem is that families in Russia are getting smaller. In the middle 1700s there were 6 people in an average household. Today an average family contains only 2 or 3 people. Unlike their parents, many single adults in Russia today are waiting longer to get married. Some men and women marry and start their families later because they want to graduate from a university or college, others want to become more established in their chosen profession. Couples are also waiting longer before they have children. Some couples today decide not to have any children at all. And what is the attitude towards parents and their children? Teenagers often consider their fathers old-fashioned, unaware of latest fads and fashions, which preoccupy them. As for the father, he usually does his best to give his children a better education, a better background, a better chance that he had himself. Some people often talk about a generation gap-a gap between the views of the younger generation of teenagers and the views of their parents. But talk about a generation gap is usually exaggerated. When parents and children argue, usually it is about simply things. But there exist some more serious problems. Peer pressure, mobility of families and unemployment are just a few reasons why some young people try to escape from reality by turning to alcohol or drugs. Drinking becomes a more serious problem when combined with driving. A lot of young people run away from home each year. Most return after a few days or weeks, but some turn to crime and become juvenile delinquents. But in spite of all these problems, thousands of young people help take care of the elderly, the handicapped and hospital patients, many help clean up the natural environment. Usually these young people are from stable, happy families. Such families are similar in many ways whether they are rich or poor. So, families in our country face a lot of pressures, such as divorce pressure, career demands and money worries. To adapt to these pressures, families are changing but they are not going to disappear.
