Our health and fitness depend on our way of life. That means we must be aware of all aspects of the problem. To begin with we should have proper food at regular hours and should not eat too much. The balanced diet is the solution to the problem. Fat and fibre should be presented in sufficient proportion. Food rich in vitamins and minerals is essential. The problem of the excessive weight is of great importance especially in the industrial countries. The progress in technology, introduction of computers and automatic machines reduced the use of manual and unskilled labour. The sedentary way of life and telly addiction make us stale and old. For example in Britain young people spend too much time watching TV and not enough time taking exercise. According to the report on young peolie's health and fitness 20% of boys and 50% of girls were not fit enough. Dr B.Spock, an expert in child raising, one complained that he couldn't get his grandchildren to leave the TV set when he wanted to take them to the zoo. And the modem hobby — computer games - is even more dangerous. The police and army have reported that the young people who join them are often not fit enough. Moreover it was discovered that one in four young people can't swim. It's quite obvious that the importance of physical training is actually growing. Sometimes even a little exercise еасh dау will keep us fit. But if we go in for sports regularly we feel healthy and chreernil, full of enthusiasm and energy, ready for further work. Sport keeps people in good shape, makes them more organized and disciplined in their daily activities. In our country various sporting facilities are provided for children and grown-ups: gyms equipped with all sorts of trainers, stadiums for the thousands of fans, sports clubs and sports grounds are ореn everywhere. Schoolchildren have PE lessons that aim at making them strong and healthy. PE teacher organizes sport competitions encouraging pupils to participate in them. They say, "Health is above wealth". People become more concerned with their physical fitness. We should always remember that to prevent illness is easier then to cure it. It's important that we should consult doctors at polyclinic regularly. Parents should inoculate their children to protect them from infectious diseases. But if you feel ill you should send for a district doctor. He will examine you thoroughly, give the necessary instructions and prescribe mecicines for your disease. For urgent medical treatment we can call an ambulance and get taken to hospital. One day I was attending my preparetary courses and noticed that my hands were covered with rash. At first I thought it was just some allergy. The next morning I was covered with scratching rash all over my body. Being afraid of some dangerous desease I went to the polyclinic to consult my district doctor. The diagnosis was German measles. The doctor prescribed me some antiallergic medicines for my illness. Those were some pills. The rash disappeared in 3 days but I haveto stay in isolation for 2 weeks. Besides scratching rash I had no other symptomes – no temperature, no headache. It turned to be an easy desease gor me. In Great Britain there is a National Health Service which is paid for by taxes and National Insurance and in general people do not have to pay for mccical treatment. In Russia free medical Service is provided under Medical Insurance Programme. People visit doctors, specialist doctors and use ambulances free. The changing situations in families and country cause a large number of nervous diseases and bad habits and especially young people are concerned. Sometimes they can't cope with the difficulties and turn to alcohol or drugs. In many countries special programmes and clubs were set up to help the youth to get rid of the harmful addiction. Nowadays politicians clearly understand that the nation's health depends on the home policy and money spent on social programmes. They also realize that money invested in sport and medical care will pay bасk. Our health and fitness not only influence our behavior and emotions they can also determine our future life and career. Therefore we should take into consideration all the aspects of the problem and try our best to keep fit.
