Getting information is one of the necessities of a human being. It was almost impossoble to our parents to imagine their life without TV. Nowadays, internet replaced TV. But inspite of it TV has a key-position in getting information: it acts as a bridge between the individual and the cultural and political life of his country and the other countries. TV is used regularly to give information on everything from weather conditions to wild life. There are programms on the arts, history, archeology, technical inventions, and all the hobby-type subjects like gardening, steam engines, motor vehicles. Much school broadcasting and many children’s programms also have a high factual content. The strenght of TV lies in its ability to please most tastes and preferences. As the aim of television is to attract as many viewers as possible, there is no escape from the dicrares of popular tastes. There is no formal censorship, and the portrayal of crime and violence for entertainment and thrills goes on without restriction. As the effects of television violence on children and adults can be very strong, and a link between the amount of violence on television and the amount of violence in society is possible. Frankly speaking, I’m not fond of watching TV. I prefer computer to it. But when I watch, I watch sport programmes and some films. I can’t watch serials because I find them boring. Also I like to watch news programms, to be informed about the latest news. In the conclusion, I’d like say that TV is the window to the world which gives us an opportunity to “travell” all over the world, to “meet” different people and learn about their customs and traditions. It has the power to educate and broaden our minds.
